Way back when (in highschool) at the peak of the the whole emo thing(somewhere between full collapse and on a wire) my friends and I started hosting what were basically monthly open mic nights.
One night our chaperone and mentor, dann russo got up and played this song. It was amazing. No one requested it, no one expected it, but he reached out to a room full of kids and actually related to them. It was mind blowing, and so long as I live, I’ll never forget it.
It was then that I realized that I wanted to be a teacher.
